I signed up for Perm Tour with not that great expectations.
Gerwin Lute is a decent potatoe, but still hasn't convinced me he is good enough for higher level tours.
Halfway Gerwin Lute appeared to be overperforming. He was leading GC and YC and appeared likely to get a decent result in the ITT (third stage) as well.
He got 6th in the first stage: Ochjor+-+Ochjor, a hilly sprint stage. I tried experimenting with various team tactics: Stian Ingvaldsen as hill helper, Tore Myren as LO1, and Kelsey Freeny as leadout sprinter, plus my goat Jan Øverland as leadout water carrier. A fair result losing for riders with much higher hill and/or sprint stats.
Haven't got a clue if my choice of tactics made positive, negative or no impact on the result.
Two teammates had off days, one teammate had super legs.
In the second stage: Ochjor - Perm, a CL/DH race, Gerwin Lute got third. Unfortunately a two-man breakaway managed to steal the stage win.
Captain + TM had good legs, one rider had a crash that affected his performance (luckily no injury).
On day two of this season's edition of Perm Tour the harsh reality set in, before recovering slightly to a half-decent result.
Third stage: Perm - Perm (ITT), a flattish ITT stage, proved disastrous to the team.
Gerwin Lute had an off day, Kelsey Freeny got the team's best result at 28th, despite crashing. Two other teammates had off days as well, but that doesn't really matter.
After the third stage Gerwin Lute was sitting in 6th in GC and 2nd in YC, leading into a sprint stage where he was unlikely to be able to perform good enough to maintain or improve those.
Fourth stage: Perm Parade, a flat sprinter stage was slightly better. Gerwin Lute got a meager 8th place, but managed to climb to 5th place in GC as well as maintaining the 2nd in YC, despite suffering from a small crash and a TM with off day.
I repeated the tactics of utilising LOS, LO1 and LO-WC from stage two. Still don't know if this is a good solution for stages with zero CL/DH, but I have a strong sense Gerwin Lute's SP: 52 really shouldn't be enough to get a 8th in a sprinter stage.
All in all fairly pleased with the div3 tour, disappointment probably linked to overperforming in first half giving me false expectations.

rude!
thanks for checking, though:)
Haven't found figures, so I think Nick doesn't want us to know :(
Nope, Nick has been quite mysterious about this. Might be in some kind of discussion topic though, I'll try and find it
Ah, do you have any guesstimates regarding numbers? 2%? 5%? 10%?
quite a big impact if it's a bad off day, not that much if it's a small one
Of course TT-bars. What is the impact of off day?
:-(
No TT-bars?
You jinxed me!
Good going indeed! Best of luck in the next stage!
